Join us for the Tulip Festival in Holland, Michigan. Experience true Dutch hospitality and view millions of beautiful tulips. The Volksparade “Peoples Parade” is one to not miss when the Mayor and the City Council inspect the parade route and declare that the “streets need scrubbing”. Enjoy the street scrubbers in Dutch costumes when they bring buckets and brooms to the parade to clean the streets before the marching bands, amazing floats, specialty entries, and klompen dancers walk their way down the freshly cleaned streets. The “tail end” of the parade are the infamous Dutch Dogs! This is a festival you won’t want to miss!
Wednesday, May 6th:
Travel to Holland! We will depart at 7:00am from the Rochester area to start our journey for an enjoyable day at the Tulip Festival. A light breakfast will be served by a professional Excite Tours Coordinator along the way. From there you can sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
Our first stop will be at the Windmill Island Gardens. You will get to see and learn about the original working Dutch windmill named “DeZwaan” (the Swan), as well as visit the Post House. We will then get to listen to the antique Amsterdam street organ and learn how it works. Most importantly, you will get to view the beautiful tulips all around.
After our fun tours we will head over to 8th Street for some free time for shopping and lunch on your own before meeting for the parade.
The Volksparade is their traditional parade where you will enjoy the street scrubbing, floats, klompen dancers, and many bands.
After the parade, you will have some more free time before we meet for our included group dinner. After dinner we will make our way home with many memories of beautiful Holland.
